SEEKING HAPPINESS? MAINTAINING GOOD HEALTH IS KEY
All of us need to be healthy to lead a truly happy life with purpose.
Health is not just the absence of disease, but a balance state of being. In the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept, the smooth flowing of Qi is essential to our well-being. When Qi flows smoothly and harmoniously throughout the meridians, every organ and bodily system are in harmony and there is health, but when Qi is blocked or unbalanced, there will be pain and illness.
Massaging frequently on the meridians promotes the free flowing of Qi. While there are similarities between meridian massage and conventional western massage, the intent of meridian massage is more specifically therapeutic than the simple relaxation of a Swedish-style massage.
Ancient health experts advised: "Rub the feet frequently, wave the limbs frequently, and massage the abdomen frequently." This helps in maintaining your well-being even when you are not experiencing any illnesses. I would like to take this a step further: enhance the functions of the organ that is weak by frequently massaging the relevant meridians, e.g., massage your lung meridian frequently if you are prone to cold or flu, massage your heart meridian if you are stessed or suffer from insomnia.
Meridian 101 is a simple D.I.Y. health routine that you could apply to yourself, your friends and loved ones. You could do it while watching TV, waiting for bus or MRT, while travelling etc. It is so simple and convenient for all of us living in this super fast-paced society, and yet so effective in enhancing our health!
