Dearest Reader,
IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME - ARE YOU A VICTIM?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a functional disorder of the gastrointestinal tract, characterised by recurrent abdominal pain and discomfort, accompanied by alterations in bowel function. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) hits one in five people.
What are the signs and symptoms of IBS?
The most common symptoms of IBS are abdominal pain or discomfort often reported as cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea, and/or constipation. Other symptoms include abnormal stool form (lumpy/hard or Loose/watery); abnormal stool passage (straining, urgency or feeling of incomplete evacuation); lethargy, nausea, flatulence and mucus in the stool; Irritability, restless, hyperactivity, impatience, nervousness, anxiety, poor digestion, fatigue, over worry about trivial issues, poor and shallow sleep.
What causes it?
In the view of Chinese medicine, IBS can be the result of either the imbalance between stomach meridian, spleen meridian and liver meridian or the weakness of internal meridians such as spleen and stomach meridian. Chinese medicine believes that the spleen meridian is the primary meridian of digestion and the root of the Qi and blood energy of human body. It extracts the nutrients from food in the stomach meridian, which forms the basic of Qi and Blood energy. Strong and well functional stomach and spleen meridians will mean good appetite, digestion, energy, and muscle tone. When the spleen’s function is impaired it will lead to fatigue, poor digestion, and diarrhoea. The liver meridian controls the smooth flowing of Qi energy, which is in turn seen as relating closely to the harmonization of the emotions. Anger and feelings of frustration can harm the liver meridian. The imbalance liver and spleen meridians could be the main cause of IBS, which is why stress or depression appears to make IBS symptoms worse. Besides managing your stress level, there are natural treatments such as acupuncture, herbal medicine and meridian massage which could help to lesson the symptoms. It has been proven that frequent massage on the major meridians help in maintaining our health. Do come join us in a fun and rewarding session to learn how you could use meridian massage to maintain the health of your stomach, spleen and liver meridians!

STORY: RELIEF FROM 6 YEARS OF PAIN DUE TO STIFF NECK
"For 6 years, I have been having difficulties in moving my head from side to side, due to my osteoporosis condition. Over the years, I've tried many different kinds of orthodox and alternative medical treatments but my condition showed no signs of improvements. I was told that I would have to live with it and I actually accepted the advice. Until one evening while I was in Singapore, I attended a Meridian 101 workshop. During the session, I volunteered myself for a demonstration by the workshop speaker, Ms Theingi. Though it seemed like a just a simple massage using the buffalo bone guasha board with herbal essential oils on the neck and shoulder, I could feel the effects almost immediately! For the first time in years, I was able to move my head freely without any pain! And the relief has continued till today."

VALERIAN - "HYPNOTCS GRANTED FROM GOD"
Valerian is mild in nature with a bitter taste. Originating from Europe, it has been known as a tranquilizer for thousands of years. In ancient Greece, Valerian was used to calm anxious emotions and purify the mind. It has been used to relax muscles, reduce stress, and to nurse a peaceful sleep since the 19th century. It is a mild natural herb for health maintenance without the side effects such as that of sleeping pills which can cause addiction. It is consequently called the “hypnotics granted from God”.
